Shura Council Urges Immediate Ceasefire to Protect Civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan

[Orange, CA - March 2, 2026]: The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California and its member organizations express grave concern over the escalating violence between Pakistan and Afghanistan. In this tragic situation, innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, are paying the highest price.

We unequivocally oppose any violation of national sovereignty and call for an immediate ceasefire, restraint, and accountability from all parties, including the Taliban authorities and the Pakistani military. While the US-Israel attack on Iran has overshadowed this growing conflict, it underscores the alarming rise in nation-state warfare and the diminishing effectiveness of international institutions such as the United Nations.

We urge the international community to act decisively to protect civilian lives, uphold justice, and pursue a peaceful and democratic resolution to this crisis.
